Dubbed the biggest entrepreneur showcase in Malaysia, BizStart Showcase 2011 will be held on September 28-29, 2011 at the Sunway Convention Centre. The 2-day event is designed to help potential startups and entrepreneurs by providing information, business opportunities and networking.

With its tagline that spells “D.A.R.E”, acronym for Design, Acceleration, Realize and Empowerment, BizStart Showcase 2011 has lined-up over 100 exhibitors, 20 speakers, 20 workshops (from business planning to marketing and branding workshops) and will host 1-on-1 business clinics.

According to Andrew Wong, the CEO of MAD Incubator, the event organizer, BizStart Showcase 2011 will also host a pitching platform for Malaysian technopreneur where the best selected ideas will be engaged to the MAD Accelerates! Program that entitles them for a 6-month business development support that includes funding and mentoring. MAD Incubator and its angel investment partners are expected to fund over 30 startups within the year with two intakes (March and September).

“MAD Accelerator follows the Y-Combinator model in the US and we localized this to suit the local environment here in Malaysia. We hope MAD Accelerates! will catalyze more ICT start-up companies that are capable of creating a strong regional presence with the help of MAD’s regional partners,” said Wong.

Keynote speakers for the event are Ms Chok Kwee Bee, Managing Director of Teak Capital, a venture capital company; Dato’ Badlisham Ghazali, CEO of Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC); and Mr Puan Chan Cheong, Managing Director and CEO of GreenPacket Berhad.

Among prominent partners of the event are the Malaysia Franchise Association, Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Malaysia (DPMM) Putrajaya, Asian Women Business Network (AWBN) and National Incubator Network Association (NINA), as well as government agencies such as MDEX. Besides, entrepreneurs will also find SohoAssistAsia, Youth Works Asia and YourPartTime to name a few, which are some of successful startups in the region.

Admission is FREE. To find more information on the event, visit here. More details on MAD Incubator can be found at their website.
